Dear Friends of Botanican,
Botanican’s community day was a great success and offered us a chance to say thank you to the people of Ha Rakolo for being so welcoming. The celebratory event was packed with interesting questions, pledges of support and dancing. We shared our plans with around 250 people and asked for their help, guidance and support going forward. These plans include job creation, while balancing this goal (and managing expectations) within the realities of being a start-up.
We shared our plans to hold farmers’ days for those keen to become the first members of the outgrowers collective, and after a brief cannabis cultivation lesson, we asked for some much-needed help in identifying and removing male plants in the community. We are grateful for this valuable asssistance to keep our precious plants on the right track.
Progress on the farm has been swift: Half a hectare of plants were transplanted, the fence erected and low-cost irrigation solutions devised. We have been blessed with rain and our plants are happy and growing well. We will be harvesting in six to eight weeks, and thereafter drying and curing will take about a month.
In other news, Botanican’s approach was mentioned by Saul Singer from CMTREX at Davos, where he spoke about opportunities for sustainable cannabis innovations delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting equality.
We would like to thank all the friends of Botanican for your continued support; and especially our intrepid investors, without whom none of this would be possible.
